Neuro Infections Treatment

There is known plenty of diseases subtypes that can affect the central nervous system, are you aware of all?

What is Neuro Infections Treatment ?

Neurological infections comprise of a large variety of conditions that invade and affect our nervous system. Virus and microorganisms invade our body which affects the working of our organs and leads to mild disturbances or even serious complicated problems which can even be life-threatening. In most of the cases, bacterial organisms are often to blame but animal parasites and fungi can also be a reason. When the nervous system is hit, it can cause problems in our movement and coordination. The disorders caused by these infections are among the most challenging neurological disorders.

There are several factors which contribute to the widespread incidence of neurological infections. Some of them are –

  • There is a rise in the number of people who are infected with HIV/AIDS and susceptible to neurological infections due to impaired immunity.
  • In case of cancer, medication such as anti-cancer drugs is used which can leave people more vulnerable to neurological infections.
  • There is no treatment available as of now for several viral infections of the central nervous system.
  • People who travel frequently and across different regions are more prone to neurological infections.

There are different neurological infections such as –

  • HIV is a viral infection which gradually destroys body’s immune system.
  • Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain which is either caused by bacteria or virus.
  • There can be inflammation of the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord.
  • Other neurological infections include fungal infections, parasitic infections, prion diseases, Lyme diseases, tuberculosis, syphilis and brain abscess.

  • Treatment

For some neurological disorders, the outlook can be very good with treatment and adequate rehabilitation. Adjustment to the patient’s lifestyle is helpful in restoring some lost function. These changes are made to prevent or minimize the impact of such conditions. Pain management is also done with the help of medication to prevent the worsening of the condition.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is used to treat primarily behavioral neurological issues which focus on reorienting a patient’s thoughts and behavior related to their disability. It has shown a considerable effect in the treatment of ADHD, anxiety and other mood disorders. They are typically administered in session format.
