What is Cataract Surgeries
Cataract surgery is a surgical procedure to treat cataract where the change in the lens of the eye cause cloudy and blurry vision. In this condition, the natural lens of the eye has developed an opacification. This opacification is known as a cataract. It affects many people all over India and becomes prominent as we age. Diagnosis of this cataract is done with the help of specialized viewing instruments.
The decision to go ahead with the surgery is taken based on the amount of difficulty that is suffered in performing daily routine activities. There are different varieties of a lens that can restore vision in different ways. The main reason why cataract is preferred by everyone is that it is a safe procedure with minimal complications.
A cataract is an eye disease in which the normally clear lens of the eye becomes opaque which causes a decrease in vision. It is a gradual process but occasionally it can develop very rapidly too. It can affect one or both the eyes. The precise cause of cataract is not known. Some of the factors that are related to this condition are ultraviolet light exposure, diabetes, smoking, steroids etc. It is identified with the help of the following signs –
- The difficulty with glare. It often happens with bright sun or automobile headlights while driving at night.
- A blurred vision which is similar to looking through a dirty windshield.
- Increased nearsightedness accompanied by frequent changes in eyeglass prescription.
- Double vision in one eye happens occasionally.
- Extremely poor night vision.
